Hooray For Fall: 5 Ideas To Get You Inspired

What makes summer seem so short these days?

Unfortunately, I only made it to our local beach one time. We did, however, do more barbequing and more eating than I want to admit. But summer is now in the rearview, and fall sneaks softly into each day.

So let’s ease in… enjoy fall’s early moments of color, the evening chill

and our much-loved rituals,

Now, on to the ideas:

#1. Look To Nature

The Big Moss Bowl

I create these bowls every fall.

Try to find real live moss. Some growers sell the real “alive” moss on Etsy and will ship it.

This requires daily spritzing maintenance, which can be a bit fussy.

But, in a pinch, you can use dried/preserved for an equally wonderful effect.

I line my bowl with a disposable trash bag and then layer over the top, filling in all the gaps and overlapping.

Super easy…super fun!

#2. Eat Alfresco

If you have a free Saturday evening…do it

Bring out the sweaters, your favorite hot dip and a few glasses of wine.

Let’s do charcuterie for this one. Cheese, crackers, fresh figs, and a few olives.

Done and Done

#3. Pillow Swap Out

New Pillows and chunky candles

Edit your collections and bring in moody, darker colors: wools, boucle, texture, and scented diffusers.

Our shop is filled with inspiration right now!

#4. Hit the Farmers Market…out of town

Oh, the fall Farmers Market. Love! Love! Love!

But better yet, if you are itching to take a weekend drive, hit a Farmers Market you have never been to.

It’s a beautiful way to enjoy chat time in the car with a hot coffee and a muffin.

Here are a few of my favorites locally in California:

Ojai

Santa Barbara

San Luis Obispo

Santa Monica

#5. Get back into the kitchen

Just get back in there!

Cooking huge meals can be challenging with busy lives and mile-long to-do lists. But it’s amazing how a few hours of chopping, re-arranging pantries, and putting on a pot of chicken stock can bring things into perspective. Food for the soul….as they say ; ))

Because fall is magical.
